World-class dining, Southern charm, and another reason to fall in love with Upstate South Carolina!

Who says you have to travel to New York, Paris, or Charleston for an unforgettable dining experience?

Greenville, South Carolina, is officially making waves in the culinary world, and we now have a Michelin star restaurant to prove it!

That's right! Our charming downtown, already known for its fantastic restaurants, beautiful Main Street, and lively atmosphere, has officially joined the ranks of some of the world's most celebrated dining destinations.

And the best part? This isn't just about one restaurant. Several Greenville-area favorites have earned recognition from the prestigious Michelin Guide.

So, food lovers, grab your calendars. Your next date night just got a little more exciting!

A Michelin Star Right Here in Greenville?

Meet Scoundrel, located at 18 North Main Street in downtown Greenville.

Led by Greenville native Chef Joe Cash, this upscale French bistro earned the city's first Michelin star in November 2025.

If you've ever wandered down Main Street and noticed Scoundrel's inviting entrance, you might already be familiar with this downtown gem.

Inside, you'll find an elegant but welcoming atmosphere, French-inspired cuisine, and dishes crafted with incredible attention to detail. Think steak frites, beautifully prepared seafood, and desserts worth saving room for.

And Michelin's inspectors clearly agreed!

Scoundrel received one Michelin star, recognizing its high-quality cooking and putting Greenville on the international culinary map.

Not bad for our little corner of South Carolina!

Wait... What Exactly Is a Michelin Star?

If you're wondering what all the excitement is about, here's a little background.

The Michelin Guide is one of the world's most respected restaurant guides. Its anonymous inspectors evaluate restaurants based on the quality of their food, creativity, technique, and consistency.

Restaurants can earn one, two, or three stars, and even earning a single star is an extraordinary accomplishment.

Fun fact: The guide actually originated with the Michelin tire company as a way to encourage people to travel!

Today, it's one of the most coveted honors in the culinary world.

Scoundrel Isn't the Only Greenville Restaurant Getting Attention!

Four other restaurants in the Greenville area were also recognized as Michelin Guide Selected restaurants.

While they haven't earned stars, being selected is still a significant honor.

And you might recognize a few of these names!

Soby's — A Greenville Classic

207 South Main Street, Greenville

A longtime downtown favorite, Soby's has been serving its signature Southern-inspired cuisine since 1997.

Known for dishes like fried green tomatoes, an impressive wine selection, and a lively atmosphere, Soby's continues to be a wonderful choice for a night out.

Jianna — Italian Dining with a View

600 South Main Street, Greenville

If handmade pasta, Italian cuisine, and an evening overlooking downtown Greenville sound like your idea of a perfect date night, Jianna deserves a spot on your list.

Its location overlooking Falls Park adds another special touch.

The Anchorage — A Food Lover's Favorite

586 Perry Avenue, Greenville

Located in the Village of West Greenville, The Anchorage focuses on thoughtfully prepared dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients.

Its creative menu and interesting wine selections make it a great place to try something a little different.

Topsoil Restaurant — Farm-to-Table in Travelers Rest

13 South Main Street, Travelers Rest

Just north of Greenville, Topsoil celebrates the flavors of the Upstate with seasonal dishes and locally grown ingredients, including produce from its own farm.

It's a wonderful reminder that exceptional dining isn't limited to downtown Greenville!

Did You Know Greenville Hosted the Michelin Awards?

Here's another fun fact!

In November 2025, Greenville hosted the inaugural Michelin Guide American South awards ceremony at the Peace Center.

Chefs and restaurant teams from across the South came together right here in Greenville to celebrate some of the region's best dining experiences.

It's another exciting milestone for a city that continues to attract attention well beyond South Carolina.

More Than Great Food: It's the Greenville Lifestyle

One of my favorite things about living in Upstate South Carolina is how much there is to discover.

You can spend your morning hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, enjoy an afternoon exploring downtown Greenville or Falls Park, and finish the evening with a world-class dining experience.

And the beauty of Greenville is that it still manages to maintain its welcoming Southern charm.

Whether you're a longtime local, planning a weekend visit, or considering making Upstate South Carolina your home, there's always something new to explore.

And now, we can officially add Michelin-starred dining to the list!

So tell me, have you dined at any of Greenville's Michelin-recognized restaurants?

Which one would you recommend, and which one is next on your list?

I'd love to hear your favorites!
